Stephen J Stassen is professional in emergency management. Currently working to push for better community member preparedness, more resilient communities, and training of the next generation of emergency managers.

He has been studying emergency management from 2014. Starting as a wilderness first responder followed by 4 years service on ambulances. During this time he has responded to a wide variety of incidents from single resource medical emergencies to two national declared hurricanes. 

In 2018, he has fully focused on emergency management. Attending Western Carolina University for a BS in Emergency and Disaster Management. Working as an Emergency Management Specialist Intern for the City and County of Broomfield Colorado. 2020 brought him to the Training and Exercise Section of the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management in Colorado. During the time there, he served in the logistic section of state EOC, helping implement the first mobile testing sites. He returned to Broomfield as a contract worker helping with testing operations until 2021.

At the beginning of 2021, Stephen took an opportunity by volunteering with All Hands And Hearts, as a site manager for the rebuild of a school in the Bahamas. In addition, overhauling the tool inventory system now used in two AHAH programs, helping with medical concerns of volunteers and staff, and covering staff roles.

Slab poor for Every Child Counts (ECC) in Marsh Harbor, Bahamas. ECC provides schooling for children with access and functional needs, and was impacted by hurricane Dorian in September 2019.

Stephen looks forward to continuing to learn, share, and foster growth in emergency management and wider communities.
